MoonPay has obtained a New York Limited Purpose Trust Charter from the NYDFS, marking a significant step toward regulated institutional crypto services. The charter enables MoonPay Trust Company to operate as a fiduciary for digital assets, offering custodial and OTC trading services under strict regulatory oversight.

CEO Ivan Soto-Wright emphasized the MOVE strengthens governance and compliance while deepening ties with financial institutions. The charter also positions MoonPay to potentially issue a stablecoin, pending separate NYDFS approval.

New York's dual approval of MoonPay's BitLicense and Trust Charter creates a framework for compliant innovation in digital asset infrastructure. The development signals growing institutional acceptance of cryptocurrency custody solutions.
